Prevention is better than Cure, is a wise saying that most of us are aware of. Here are a few Tips to avoid losing your pet in the first place, thereby you can save yourself from going through the hassle of frantically searching for your lost pet.
Never Assume that your pet would never go missing. Pets can easily get distracted, stolen, frightened and can run away.
Keep the Collar on
Make sure your pet wears the collar always, even inside the house. Even if your pet is a cat, you can still make them wear a collar. A Collared dog is easily spotted by onlookers and would help greatly in locating if lost.
Close your house gate
Always make sure that you GATE is CLOSED and your doors are locked. Inform your family members to always keep them closed. Most often pets go missing when a family member accidentally leaves the door open and the pet runs out in fear or to explore
Tag your pet
Make sure you put a tag on your pet’s collar. The Tag must contain your pet’s name and your contact number. If in case any kind hearted person spots your pet it would help them reach you immediately.
Socialize your pet
Introduce your pet to your neighbors and friends in your area so that if the pet runs away they might be the one to spot it first and give you vital information as to where to begin the search.
Be extra cautious during Diwali
Most of the pets go missing during Diwali because they get frightened due to the loud noise that crackers make. Hence it would be wise to be extra careful and protect your pets during this Diwali.
Keep your Pet's photo safe
Always keep ready the latest pictures of your pet. Most often people don’t have pictures of their missing pet and its very tough to find a lost pet without any picture. The latest picture would help spot your pet immediately and can also be used in the Pet Lost Poster.
